Peru's garment exports to the United States showed a positive performance over the past three years, thus growing at an average annual rate of 4.3%, Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) reported Thursday.

Said expansion was mainly underpinned by the U.S. economic recovery, as well as the new international brands' interest in the quality of Peruvian garments.

According to CCL's Foreign Trade Center (CCEX), Inca shipments to the North American market totaled US$589 million in 2017, a 3.6% increase compared to the previous year.

It must be noted the United States —Peru's main trade partner— received 69% of the total exports, followed by Brazil (5%).

Moreover, Peruvian total garment exports amounted to US$875 million last year, up by 3.4% over 2016.
