Fuerza Popular candidate Keiko Fujimori cast her vote at Los Precursores School in Lima's Surco district on Sunday afternoon, within the framework of the presidential runoff election.

The candidate arrived at the polling place at around 4:00 p.m. (local time).

After fulfilling her civic duty, 46-year-old Fujimori left the venue under strong security measures, and greeted the citizens who also cast their votes at the site.

In statements to the press, she called on her party officials to be attentive during election day and congratulated the senior citizens who decided to vote on this occasion.

"They (the elderly) are the true heroes of this day," she said in brief statements to the press.

Afterwards, she got into a vehicle from where she greeted some citizens who arrived at that venue.

The candidate also requested the electoral bodies to investigate any case of violence on Election Day.
