Peru: Franchise market to rise 10% by end-2019

09:51 | Lima, Oct. 25.

The franchise market in Peru will expand 10% by the end of the current year, according to projections made by the Peruvian Franchise Chamber.

"The franchise sector in Peru will grow 10% this year. Between 50 and 60 companies will end up opening new stores this 2019," said Aldo R. Defilippi, Executive-Director at the American Chamber of Commerce of Peru (Amcham).

"There is an important development of Peruvian franchises abroad," the officer pointed out during the 2019 Franchise Summit held in Lima.

"The services sector is the one that has experienced the greatest development potential due to its competitive advantages with products that arise from our needs. Peru is an attractive place for foreign companies," he added.

Amcham, Grupo Nexo Franquicia (Nexo Franchise Group), and the US Commercial Service developed the 2019 Franchise Summit.

At the event, topics related to the revitalization of the franchise sector, as well as the private equity market in Peru and Latin America, were addressed.

"In recent years, we have seen the entry of great players from abroad such as movie chains, restaurants, personal care stores (...). In addition, there is greater penetration in the (Peruvian) provinces," he said.

He also mentioned that the internationalization of brands is a clear example of what should be understood by "added value."

"In Peru, there is an unexplored variety for the American public; the key is to provide information on the demand," he suggested.
