Formal employment nationwide increased 7.5% in February 2022 compared to the same month in 2021, marking 11 months of consecutive increase, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) reported on Sunday.

The issuing entity explained that this recovery trend occurred as COVID-19 containment measures were eased.

In the case of formal jobs in the private sector, there was an increase of 9.2% in February 2022 from the same month in 2021, marking 11 months of continuous growth.

This increase occurred mainly in the service and farming sectors, with growth rates of 11% in both cases.

For its part, the formal sector payroll increased 13.6% year-on-year in February, according to the country's monetary authority.

In recent months, this variable showed favorable dynamics with positive expansion rates.

This was based on the recovery of the average income of workers and the increase in jobs.

The private sector payroll grew 16.6% last February, showing a continuation of the recovery seen since April 2021.
