Formal employment nationwide has increased 6.1% year-on-year in June, adding 315,000 jobs over the same month in 2021, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) reported on Sunday.

Thus, June marked 15 straight months of growth since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

In the case of private sector formal jobs, they continued to record positive growth since April 2021, going up 7.8% year-on-year in June this year.

This increase occurred mainly in the services and trade sectors, which grew 11.5% and 7.8% in June, respectively.

Moreover, total payroll increased 9.1% in June compared to the same month last year, mainly explained by the recovery of jobs.

Meanwhile, private sector payroll rose 10.6% year-on-year in June, mainly due to increases in payroll within the services and trade sectors.
