Formal employment nationwide increased 5.1% year-on-year in October 2022, up by 285,000 jobs compared to the same month last year, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) reported on Sunday.

Thus, formal employment in Peru has experienced 19 months of continuous growth in October this year.

Regarding private formal jobs, the BCR said that figures show a continuation of the positive trend seen since April 2021, thereby increasing 6.4% year-on-year in October 2022.

The increase in formal jobs in the private sector was mainly observed in the services industry, which posted a growth of 10%.

For its part, the formal wage bill increased 9.5% in October over the same month in 2021.

Said result is associated with the increase in jobs and higher wages.

The private sector wage bill increased 11.1% year-on-year in October, mainly due to the rise in the wage bill in services.
