The Ministry of Foreign Affairs played an active role in the second regular session of the Multisectoral Commission for State Action in the Maritime Domain (COMAEM).

During the meeting, Maritime Affairs Director Julio Reinoso reported on the progress achieved by Working Committee IV on the "Analysis and Evaluation of Maritime Regulations."

The group aims to determine the level of implementation of international treaties on maritime matters to which Peru is a party.

This work contributes to compliance with international obligations and strengthens the South American country's position as an actor committed to international maritime law and ocean governance.

Likewise, he presented a report on Peru’s accession process to the Global Ocean Accounts Partnership (GOAP). It will support the development of the Maritime GDP, an objective contemplated in the National Maritime Policy 2019–2030.

In that regard, he reported that Peru secured its incorporation into the alliance on May 5, 2026, through an official communication sent by the Foreign Affairs Ministry to the GOAP Secretariat.

The initiative reaffirms the country's commitment to evidence-based ocean management and the sustainable use of marine resources.
