The
Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has approved to take a US$700 million conditional credit line from the
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to finance investment projects or programs.
With this conditional credit line as a framework, it was also decided to approve a loan of up to US$350 million to partially finance the public investment project
"Expansion and Improvement of the Potable Water and Sewer Services in the City of Juliaca – Puno" to be implemented by the
Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation.
This effort is in line with the
Government's objective to start closing social gaps, as is the case of water and sanitation infrastructure —a measure that is contemplated in the
United Plan.
The IDB loan resources will be directed directly to enhancing this infrastructure in the city of Juliaca, which shows significant deficiencies in providing adequate services to residents.
The project involves the implementation of actions such as the review and updating of the technical file, the construction of catchments, conduction lines, a water treatment plant, an adduction line to the city, diversion chambers, reservoirs, macro and micro meters, as well as the rehabilitation and construction of networks, pumping stations, drive lines, and home connections to the sewerage system.
The operational and commercial improvement of the Sanitation Service Provider Sedajuliaca (EPS Sedajuliaca) is also considered.
The rule authorizes the Ministry of Economy and Finance, or whomever it designates, to sign the corresponding agreement for the conditional credit line for investment projects and the loan contract for the external debt operation, to then authorize MEF's General Directorate of Public Treasury to sign the documents required to implement the aforementioned operations.
The loan has a 15-year repayment term and includes a 7-year grace period.
