Peru Fin Min: Over US$890 million to be spent on infrastructure plan in 2020

13:21 | Lima, Dec. 20.

Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva on Friday affirmed that the National Infrastructure Plan for Competitiveness (PNIC) includes a total budget —for the execution thereof— of S/3 billion (around US$898.7 million) for 2020 and S/5 billion (around US$1.497 billion) for 2021.

The high-ranking official emphasized that the implementation of PNIC will contribute towards helping public investment increase 9% in 2020.

"In addition to the National Infrastructure Plan for Competitiveness, we passed an urgency decree featuring a series of measures to ensure the rapid implementation of the plan itself. It contains administrative simplification and accountability measures," the minister told El Peruano official gazette.

"This is a strong commitment to speeding up public investment, which is quite important to the economy," she underlined.

On the other hand, the cabinet member remarked that the Economy and Finance Ministry (MEF) has presented nearly 15 urgency decrees, which seek to speed up public investment.

"The Urgency Decree No 0004, for example, reorders the spending priorities of S/1 billion (about US$299.5 million), which will have a favorable impact of 0.3 percentage points in 2020," Alva said.

"The measures —related to increased execution— are all aimed at contributing to the 9% growth of public investment," she concluded.
