The
on Tuesday commemorated 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China —a country with which Peru maintains a sound cooperative relationship, and which became its top trading partner in the international community.
The bonds uniting the two nations remain sound over the years, consolidating results such as our country's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the deal signed with the Asian Giant to acquire vaccines against the virus.
"Today, Peru and China commemorate 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations," the
Ministry stressed via Twitter.
"The Asian country is our top trading partner, significant investor and cooperator, with which the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has been reached," the statement added.
For its part, the Chinese Embassy in Lima reported that China —for sixth consecutive year— ranks as Peru's most important trading partner, being the Asian country one of its main investment sources.
"Despite the unfavorable international context, trade between China and Peru increased —against all odds— reaching a total of US$23 billion in 2019, which accounted for 25% of Peru's total foreign trade," it concluded.
