Peru: FA Minister receives China's Ambassador on the occasion of Chinese New Year

Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo de Zela on Monday received the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Song Yang, on the occasion of Chinese New Year, the Year of the Fire Horse, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

During the meeting, the two officials held talks on various aspects of the bilateral relationship, highlighting the dynamism of trade flows, ongoing cooperation projects, and Chinese investment in Peru.

"The minister conveyed his best wishes to the Chinese people and government on this significant celebration," the Ministry stated via social media.

The visit took place at Torre Tagle Palace, the Ministry's headquarters in Lima.

The Chinese New Year is an emblematic Chinese festival celebrated on February 17. It is known as Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival.

The year 2026 is governed by the Horse sign and the Yang Fire element.
