During the event,
both dignitaries reviewed the excellent state of bilateral relations, the
Foreign Affairs Ministry reported via X on Wednesday.
"We have both served in the diplomacy of our (respective) countries for decades. From that shared vocation for service, we continue the strong bilateral cooperation between the United States and Peru in security, democracy, trade, and human rights (...)," she added.
They discussed key issues of common interest, particularly in view of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week.
As is known, the APEC Leaders' Week will be held in the Peruvian city of Lima from November 10 to 16.
The meeting, which will be attended by Heads of State and Government of major Asia-Pacific economies, is expected to see the adoption of a joint declaration.
The first preparatory visit to Leaders' Week took place last June, allowing for a review of all aspects for the organization of this event —the most important of the
APEC Peru 2024 forum.
Peru received the APEC Presidency from the United States in November 2023.
The APEC Presidency was handed over to Peruvian President Dina Boluarte during a ceremony led by U.S. President Joe Biden.
