08:45 | Lima, Feb. 13.

The Executive Branch has authorized Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer's trip to Germany from February 13 to 17 to participate in the 61st Munich Security Conference.

This was stated in Supreme Resolution No. 025-2025-PCM, published in the extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette El Peruano on Wednesday.

During the Foreign Affairs Minister's absence, his duties will be entrusted to Cabinet Chief Gustavo Adrianzen.

The upcoming event will take place from February 14 to 16, 2025. It will address topics such as challenges to security and the global order, as well as regional conflicts, as stated in the preamble of the resolution.

"It is one of the leading high-level forums on international security, bringing together key foreign policy actors to address the most pressing global challenges in peacebuilding, fostering dialogue in the search for effective solutions to current issues," reads the document.

During his participation in the 61st Munich Security Conference, the Foreign Affairs Minister will present Peru's position on external security and address solutions to the main challenges of regional and global security.

Moreover, he will highlight Peru's role as a key player on the international stage and a leader in regional security matters, based on the progress of the Peruvian initiative presented within the Andean Community framework, which led to the adoption of Decision No. 922: "Urgent Joint Actions to Combat Transnational Organized Crime."

Another section of the document also specifies that the diplomat will hold bilateral meetings with key actors in international security decision-making, "which represent strategic opportunities to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, exchange perspectives on emerging global challenges, and promote initiatives that contribute to international stability and peace."

The resolution was signed by President Dina Boluarte; Defense Minister Walter Astudillo, in his capacity as acting Cabinet chief; and Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer.
