The Executive Branch, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed sympathy to the Government and people of the Dominican Republic for the unfortunate deaths and thousands of displaced people affected by heavy rains in said country.

Via social media, the government agency also extended its condolences and solidarity to the families of the victims.

The rains in the Dominican Republic have so far left 21 dead, thousands of evacuees, and around 2,600 houses damaged, according to the Emergency Operations Center (COE).

For this reason, the Government of the Dominican Republic on Sunday decreed 3 days of national mourning in honor of those who died due to heavy rains that pounded the country since November 17.
