The Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry on Friday announced the expulsion of Venezuelan Ambassador to Lima Diego Alfredo Molero Bellavia, while reiterating its condemnation of the rupture of democratic order in the Bolivarian nation.

In a release, the Foreign Affairs Ministry informed the Venezuelan envoy must leave Peruvian territory within the next five days.

The institution has also dismissed Venezuela's recent protest note regarding the Declaration of Lima, as it contains "unacceptable terms."

As is known, the Inca country convened a meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers earlier this week to discuss the Venezuelan crisis.

As part of the dialogue, the 17 participating nations condemned the fracture of democracy in the neighboring country.

They also agreed not to recognize resolutions of President Nicolas Maduro's recently-elected Constituent Assembly, deemed as illegitimate.

Such collective stance was materialized in the Declaration of Lima which, among other things, expresses full support to Venezuela's democratically-elected National Assembly.

Lastly, the Peruvian Government reiterated its determination to further contribute to the restoration of democracy in Venezuela.
