Peru: Executive Branch confirms decentralized approach, open doors for municipalities

19:08 | Lima, Oct. 8.

Peru's Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos reiterated the Executive Branch's readiness to work in a decentralized way and to keep the doors open for municipal governments from all over the country.

In his speech, at a meeting with mayors that comprise the Association of Municipalities of Peru (AMPE), Zeballos noted that events like this serve to change the perception that the National Government is very distant from provinces and districts across Peru.

"As President of the Council of Ministers, I confirm a decentralized work environment but, above all, a horizontal relationship. The Presidency of the Council of Ministers, as well as different ministers, will be available for you to work in harmony," he stated.

Zeballos assured that a mayor's success is "everyone's success." Therefore, in one way or another, "we all have to come to provide mutual support and generate better articulation."

"We want a strengthened presence of a more dynamic State, and to see our local authorities empowered next to you. You are part of the State," he underlined.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed the Executive Branch's willingness to continue participating at the meetings held by AMPE.
