Peru: Everything you need to know about entrance times for Machu Picchu in 2019

With the aim of preserving the integrity of Machu Picchu —Peru's main tourist attraction and a world heritage site— and reducing the number domestic and foreign visitors in the morning shift, the new entrance times —set by the Ministry of Culture— has been in force since January this year.

According to a ministerial resolution, which modifies the Regulation of Sustainable Use and Tourist Visit for the Conservation of the Llaqta or Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, tickets are sold for entry on the hour, and people are allowed to enter every hour from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

This new system is expected to improve the flow of traffic in the most famous of the Inca ruins.
The entry ticket is valid for the date stamped on it. Neither the date nor the ticket holder's name can be changed. Exceptionally, only the passport number change is allowed.

The Decentralized Culture Directorate of Cusco (DDC) will not give refunds or reimbursements except in cases of force majeure that may prevent the arrival or entry of visitors to the Llaqta of Machu Picchu.
Visit options

E-tickets offer the following options:
Circuit A: A journey through the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu.
Circuit B: A visit to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu and access to Alternate Route One to Huayna Picchu Mountain.
Circuit C: A visit to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu and access to Alternate Route Two to Machu Picchu Mountain.
