Peru: Economy up 3.73% in April due to trade, construction, and restaurant consumption

The economy grew 3.73% in April 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, driven by positive performance in nearly all economic sectors, with the exception of Agriculture-Livestock and Mining-Hydrocarbons, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported on Monday.

They were followed by Government Services (4.08%); Services Provided to Companies (3.27%); Accommodation and Restaurants (4.48%); Electricity, Gas, and Water (4.68%); Transportation, Storage and Courier (1.44%); Finance and Insurance (1.01%); Telecommunications & Other Information Services (1.03%); and Fishing (1.68%).

On the other hand, Agriculture-Livestock (-1.64%) and Mining-Hydrocarbons (-3.24%) posted negative results.

INEI highlighted that Peru's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 3.58% in the January-April 2026 period.

Over the last twelve months, from May 2025 to April 2026, the economy rose 3.59%.
