Deputy ministers from the Ministry of Health (Minsa) on Sunday met with heads of the Directorates of Integrated Health Networks (DIRIS) and hospitals in Metropolitan Lima in order to assess the situation of injured people and patients harmed during the social protests held in the Peruvian capital Lima.

The Ministry of Health stated that actions are also coordinated as part of the red alert declared in the country.

As is known, all healthcare centers nationwide are on red alert to serve the public, after a national strike starting January 19 was called in various regions across the nation.

In a statement issued in due course, Minsa recommended that all health establishments in the country should adapt the corresponding basic preventive actions in accordance with the provisions of Directive 036 2004-OGDN/MINSA-V-01.

According to the ministry, the recommendation came in the face of adverse situations of anthropic nature that may arise, putting at risk the health of people who participate directly or indirectly in potential confrontations and gatherings across Lima and regions.

It should be noted that Minsa declared a red alert for 24,500 health establishments nationwide —both public and private— due to the mobilizations.
