Fuerza Popular (Popular Force) legislator Daniel Salaverry has been elected as the new Congress Chairman for the 2018-2019 term.
He will be joined by legislators Leyla Chihuan (First Vice-Chairwoman), Segundo Tapia (Second Vice-Chairman), and Yeni Vilcatoma (Third Vice-Chairwoman).
The group was elected by 69 legislators, whereas other 56 lawmakers voted for the challenging —and multiparty— list.
The voting session took place on Thursday morning at Parliament headquarters.
