Peruvian Culture Minister Leslie Urteaga has reaffirmed her sector's decision to temporarily suspend the sale of tickets to
Machu Picchu through its virtual platform, as the suggestions made are taken into consideration and users can learn more about the system.
"It will happen anyway. That means that in the next few days we would be launching the tuboleto.cultura.pe website for Machu Picchu, because it is a platform where we can find all cultural offerings," she said in an interview with RPP Noticias on Thursday.
The government official stated that the
Ministry of Culture (Mincul) keeps its doors open to dialogue,
"so as to understand the discomfort on the part of some people."
In this regard, when referring to those sectors that have expressed their opposition to the new system, Urteaga affirmed that Mincul aims to explain to them that it seeks to make information transparent and identify the real number of visitors to the most important archaeological site of Peru, "which is a priority for us."
Previously, the minister reported that the
tuboleto.cultura.pe website will continue because this is the platform, which is already in operation and where people can find other types of spaces managed by the
Ministry of Culture, such as museums and archaeological sites at the national level, as well as others that will be adding up.
"We have sort of recognized the information, so that those potential users can become a little familiar with it. Besides, some suggestions have been collected," she explained.
On the other hand, when asked about the transparency to which she referred, Urteaga affirmed that for a while now many operators and users have requested a substantial enhancement of the system.
