Peru: Cruise arrivals in Paracas to increase 40% in 2018

17:25 | Paracas (Ica region), Oct. 1.

Cruise arrivals in Peru's Paracas National Reserve will increase 40% this year compared to the 2016-2017 period, the city's Tourism and Foreign Trade Chamber (Capatur) Chairman Eduardo Jauregui projected.

"14 cruise ships arrived in Paracas in 2016-2017, and 26 are expected to arrive in 2018, an increase of more than 40%," the official indicated.

"This is proof of the area's attractiveness and a sign of our progress," Jauregui added.

In this sense, he highlighted the importance of General San Martin Port Terminal —in Pisco— to facilitate the arrival of more international cruise liners

Likewise, he affirmed Pisco's airport will contribute to reviving tourism in the region.

According to Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur), a total of 354,303 travelers —out of which 276,353 were domestic and 77,950 were foreign tourists—visited Paracas National Reserve in 2017.

On the other hand, a total of 327,952 sightseers —Peruvians and foreigners— visited the place in 2016.

Jauregui went on to add Paracas offers excellent hotel deals and capacity to accommodate thousands of people, as well as locations to carry out conferences, seminars, symposiums, and meetings.

In fact, the delightful seaside town of Paracas has hosted the Annual Conference of Executives (CADE-Executives) year after year.
