The COVID-19 vaccine will be temporarily stored at the largest and safest warehouse for temperature-sensitive products in Peru, prior to its distribution nationwide.

This warehouse is administered by the Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the National Center for Supply of Strategic Resources in Health (Cenares), in Callao region.

It has Good Storage Practices (GSP) certification and is exclusively for pharmaceutical products requiring temperatures of 2-8 degrees Celsius and -20 degrees Celsius.

It must be pointed out that its proximity to Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport will facilitate the arrival and subsequent distribution of the vaccines, thus reducing the risk of robbery and preventing a breakdown in the cold chain.

Likewise, the warehouse has two 700 cubic meter freezer rooms, and three 40 cubic meter rooms with dual system, that is, they can be set up for refrigeration or freezing.

Remote temperature monitoring system

The above-mentioned rooms include a remote temperature monitoring system that provides real time information. Besides, they store vaccines included in the regular vaccination program, as well as cancer drugs, serums, products for veterinary use, and rapid ELISA tests, which are distributed nationwide.

It is important to mention that if 12 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived at this moment, this would not be a problem, since the warehouse has the capacity to receive and store them, although the doses will arrive in separate shipments and will be distributed to different regions in the same way.

It is worth noting that there are 46 freezer rooms for vaccines that need to be stored between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius in the interior of the country.
