The COVID-19 vaccination of people aged 54-55 residing in Metropolitan Lima and Callao began today, June 30, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported on Wednesday.

Details on the date, place, and time of their vaccination are available on the government's official "Pongo el Hombro" (I Lend a Shoulder) platform.

It should be pointed out that there are more than 60 vaccination centers in the capital and the country's main port city.

According to Minsa, the inoculation of people aged 52-53 is expected to take place between July 3 and 6, while those aged 50-51 will be able to get vaccinated between July 5 and 7.

Health Minister Oscar Ugarte recalled that the immunization of people aged 56-57 residing in Lima and Callao started on Monday, June 28.

He noted that 68 vaccination centers and over 1,000 vaccination brigades have been set up across Lima, as well as more than 7,000 brigades across the country.

These brigades comprise personnel from four Directorates of Integrated Health Networks (Diris), the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa) in Callao, the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud), the Metropolitan Solidarity System (Sisol), as well as health services of the Armed Forces and the National Police.

The minister affirmed that the increase in the number of people eligible for COVID-19 vaccination is possible thanks to the arrival of additional vaccines in the country, mainly due to the donation of 2 million doses by the United States.
