In a new session, the Council of Ministers of Peru approved various extradition requests, including that of Venezuelan Sergio Tarache, Prime Minister Alberto Otarola reported.

"Various extradition requests and various active extraditions have been passed today, one of them is that of Mr. Tarache. The extradition has been approved, and we hope he will be brought to justice soon," he said after a session of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.

Sergio Tarache was captured on April 11 in Bogota, Colombia, where he fled after setting Katherine Gomez ablaze in the Peruvian capital, Lima.

The extradition request seeks to bring him to Peru to be prosecuted for the alleged commission of the crime of femicide.

On the other hand, the Cabinet chief pointed out that the government is closely following the parliamentary debate on the bill that increases the penalties for damage to someone's honor, which is awaiting a second vote at a Parliament's plenary session.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Government will wait for the decision of Congress before expressing an opinion on the matter, as befits a respectful follow-up.

However, Otarola stated that from a personal point of view he believes that "the best press law is no law at all."

The Prime Minister affirmed that all public liberties will be respected by the Government. Similarly, he reiterated that the latter will wait for the course that the project in question will follow before making a decision.

Regarding the announcement of a new takeover (protest) of Lima, the high-ranking official said that such a thing will not happen, noting that the peace and tranquility that Peruvians have earned constitute a value that we cannot afford to lose.
