Peru: Council of Ministers approves citizen security bills

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, on Wednesday led a new Council of Ministers session, during which key bills aimed at strengthening territorial development and citizen security were approved.

The Presidential Office made this announcement on X, noting that, as part of these measures, a state of emergency was declared in several districts of Pisco province, Ica region.

It added that the measure is intended to restore internal order and ensure public safety.


The Presidential Office also reported that the Head of State had attended the presentation of credentials to President-elect Keiko Fujimori. She will take office on July 28, 2026.

"With a firm commitment to ensuring a smooth and orderly transfer of power, President Jose Maria Balcazar attended the ceremony at which President-elect Keiko Fujimori received her credentials," it stated.

"This is a key step that strengthens our democracy and ensures the orderly and transparent functioning of State institutions," it concluded.
