Peru coronavirus patient zero recovered, out of danger

10:30 | Lima, Mar. 16.

The young commercial aviator who was the first coronavirus case confirmed in Peru has already recovered and is out of danger, Health Minister Elizabeth Hinostroza has reported.

"The patient zero has already recovered. He was already discharged and is out of danger," the sector's head said in remarks to Punto Final TV show on Sunday night.

As the male patient told different media outlets, he decided to undergo a test even though he did not have fever, but he did have a cough, headache, and general unrest.

From the outset, he commented, doctors treated the disease like a common cold and, although he was afraid that it would be worse, that was not the case.

"The main reason (behind this fear) was the information I got about the situation in other countries, which causes alarm, above all. I am infected (with coronavirus), and the truth is that it has been less (severe) than a common cold," he said in statements to RPP radio and TV station.

As is known, the first coronavirus (COVID-19) case in Peru was confirmed March 6 in an address to the nation made by Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra.
