During a plenary session on Friday evening, Congress approved the motion that expresses rejection of the statements by the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, which constitute an offense against the National Police of Peru. Thus, Parliament has declared him persona non grata.

The document proposes "to express its rejection of the unacceptable expressions by Gustavo Petro Urrego, President of Colombia, which constitute an offense to our National Police of Peru, to the Republic of Peru, and by trivializing the Holocaust it also constitutes an offense to the entire Jewish people, many of whose members are Peruvian nationals."

Similarly, it declares him "persona non grata."

The document urges the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs so that each one of them, within the corresponding powers, "carries out the necessary procedures to guarantee that Gustavo Petro Urrego, President of the Republic of Colombia, does not enter the territory national."

In addition, it requests the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to submit, through diplomatic channels, the motion to Eufracio Morales, Minister Plenipotentiary of Colombia based in Peru.
