Peru: Congress formalizes ratification of Velarde as Central Reserve Bank head

Parliament has made official the ratification of Julio Emilio Velarde Flores as Chairman of the Board of the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) of Peru —a position for which he was appointed through Supreme Resolution No. 148-2021-PCM on October 8, 2021.

The Legislative Resolution of Congress No. 003-2021-2022-CR, published Saturday in the Official Gazette El Peruano, made the ratification official.


Velarde was ratified in office by Congress' Permanent Commission in use of the powers indicated in article 101, subparagraph 2, of the Political Constitution, as well as article 93 of Congress Regulations.


Roxana Barrantes, Jose Tavara, and German Alarco were also appointed as board members.
