The
commemorated on Monday a new anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho, an important date in our country's history, as it meant the consolidation of Peru's independence.
This message was released through a post on Parliament's official X account.
"From Congress, we commemorate the Battle of Ayacucho, a historic milestone that sealed our independence. We remember with honor the brave heroes who, with their sacrifice, forged the freedom of Peru. Long live Peru!" reads the message.
December 9 marks the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho, an event that consolidated the independence of Peru and South America. In this regard, various activities will be held to commemorate it.
Among the activities to take place for the corresponding commemoration, Peruvian Army members have been conducting rehearsals, within the framework of this bicentennial.
The ceremony will take place today at Pampa de la Quinua Sanctuary. More than 2,000 military personnel will participate in the reenactment.
Three iconic monuments in Argentina will also be lit up in the Peruvian flag's red and white colors.
