Parliament on Thursday approved the legislative resolution which authorizes the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, to leave national territory from September 17 to 22, with the aim of visiting multilateral organizations in Mexico and the United States.

The Head of State's trip will include the VI Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to be held in Mexico City.

Also, the top official is expected to attend the High-Level General Debate of the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York City, as well as a presentation before the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington D.C., United States of America.

The authorization of the Head of State's trip to Mexico and the United States was approved with 119 votes in favor, zero against, and zero abstentions.

The President will also hold meetings with high authorities of international economic-financial and health organizations in Washington D.C., which will aim to address the new boost given by the Peruvian Government to economic recovery in order to overcome social exclusion and the fight against COVID-19.

Likewise, the aforementioned tour will have the purpose of reaffirming Peru's commitment to the multilateral system and ensuring —in the future— a better articulation of global efforts in the fight against the pandemic, as well as ensuring resources from the international system for Peru's economic recovery.
