Peru congratulates Panama's President-Elect

The Government of Peru has expressed congratulations to Mr. Laurentino Cortizo for his election as President of the Republic of Panama.

According to Panama's Electoral Tribunal, Mr. Cortizo obtained 33.34% of the total votes to claim the win. He was followed by Mr. Romulo Roux (30.99%), among other contenders.

Likewise, the nation expressed sincere vows for the success of his next governmental administration set to start on July 1, 2019.

Furthermore, Peru mentioned its willingness to work together with Mr. Cortizo in order to strengthen the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation uniting both countries.

The General Elections held in Panama are an example of the important commitment of that brother country to democratic values, which Peru shares fully, as they constitute the essential foundation for the development and well-being of our peoples and of the entire region.
