Peru congratulates Maria Corina Machado on being awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize

The Government and the people of Peru commended Maria Corina Machado on receiving the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, recognizing her as a steadfast defender of democracy, human rights, and fundamental freedoms in Venezuela.

According to a message from the Presidential Office on social media, it also recognized "her effort and commitment that achieved the democratic election of the legitimate President of the sister country, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia."

"Her example inspires the values of freedom, dialogue, and justice that we share," the message indicated.

The Presidency of the Republic released a letter signed by Head of State, Jose Jeri.

In said document, the top official recognized Maria Corina Machado's work and her "tireless efforts in favor of freedom and the institutional recovery of her country."

Likewise, he highlighted her unwavering commitment to the "defense of democracy, human rights, and fundamental freedoms" of the Venezuelan nation.


Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also congratulated Maria Corina Machado on being awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.

The government agency noted that her commitment to democracy and human rights is a fundamental contribution to our region.

"In line with our country's foreign policy, Peru reaffirms its support for the rule of law and a democratic transition in Venezuela so that the President-Elect, Edmundo Gonzalez, can assume office, in accordance with the will expressed by his people, legitimately and sovereignly," it stated via social media.
