Peru condemns ballistic missile launch by North Korea

The Government of Peru, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the launch of a ballistic missile by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on January 6, 2025.

This condemnation was disclosed by the government agency on the X platform.

The launch of said missile is in violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions. It also represents a threat to international peace and security.

"We express our solidarity with Japan and the Republic of Korea, and reiterate our call on the DPRK to comply with its international obligations, including the complete, verifiable, and irreversible abandonment of its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, in favor of global security," reads the statement issued on Friday.

According to international agencies, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea announced on January 6 the launch of a new hypersonic missile, designed to attack remote targets.
