Peru claims bronze at 20th Pan Am Badminton Championship

Peru's badminton team defeated Jamaica (3-0) and thus claimed bronze medals at the 20th Pan American Badminton Championship held in Sao Paulo (Brazil).

Peruvians Diego Mini and Luz Maria Zornoza defeated counterparts Mikaylia Haldane and Anthony Mcnee (2-1) with scores of 23-21, 19-21 and 21-16 in the mixed doubles category.

Single category

Daniela Macias, considered the country's best female badminton player, defeated Katherine Wynter (2-0), with scores of 21-5 and 21-12. Likewise, Diego Mini beat Dennis Coke (2-0) with 21-19 and 21-13.

Team members

The Peruvian team is composed of Daniela Macias, Luz Maria Zornoza, Danica Nishimura, Camila Duany, Daniela Zapata, Paula La Torre, Diego Mini, Bruno Barrueto and Diego Subauste. It is coached by Jose Antonio Crespo and Isaac Nuñez.
