Citizens from different regions of the country have come to Lima to demonstrate and participate in a large march through various streets of the capital city.

Images disseminated by the media show that protesters marched along some avenues in downtown Lima, such as Dos de Mayo, Nicolas de Pierola, Abancay, among other avenues.

The Peruvian National Police (PNP) on Thursday announced that 11,800 agents have been deployed to different parts of the capital to control the protests.

In some parts of Lima, incidents have been reported between the PNP and protesters.

For instance, there was a confrontation during a demonstration along Abancay Avenue, which left police officers injured.

There is a strong police presence on said avenue to prevent acts of vandalism and to maintain public order in areas surrounding the Congress of the Republic.

Various social groups, civil society organizations, students, workers, members of political organizations, among others, are taking part in the march.
