The Nik An walled complex within the Chan Chan Archaeological Complex and its Site Museum have received the
Safe Travels Stamp —an international distinction that allows travelers to recognize that these two sites comply with health standardized protocols to prevent COVID-19.
The Safe Travel Stamp, which is bestowed by the
World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), was handed over by the Municipality of Huanchaco District and La Libertad's Regional Management of Foreign Trade, Tourism, and Crafts.
This happened after the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) granted the same distinction to the beach area of Huanchaco, as well as Cascas, Puerto Morin, Malabrigo, Magdalena de Cao, Pacasmayo, Moche, and Trujillo.
"This is another piece of good news for Chan Chan and La Libertad region. This is a new achievement and recognized the effort of all the personnel of the Ministry of Culture, especially those who work at the Chan Chan Museum and Archaeological Complex," said Jhon Juarez, director of the Decentralized Culture Directorate of La Libertad.
During the ceremony, the beach area of Huanchaco, six lodging establishments, and three restaurants located in said destination were awarded Safe Travels Stamp certifications.
In the case of lodging, the list included Bracamonte Hotel, Huankarute Hotel, Apart Hotel Restobar Huanchaco Paradise, Huanchaco Hostel, Riviera Muchik Hotel, and Las Palmeras de Huanchaco Hotel.
Meanwhile, the restaurants that comply with the WTTC Safe Travels protocols are Restaurante Big Ben, Restaurante El Paisa, and Pizzeria Sabes.
"This is a very important achievement for the economic and tourism recovery in our district. I congratulate the entrepreneurs who have managed to comply with the requirements to earn the Safe Travels Stamp," Huanchaco Municipality Manager Monica Guzman stated.
