Peruvian Energy and Mines Minister Susana Vilca has held a series of meetings in Canada aimed at boosting mining investments in Peru, as well as the sustainability of this economic activity.
These meetings were held within the framework of the
PDAC 2020, the world's meeting focused on mining exploration, which takes place in Toronto on March 1-4.
A day earlier, Minister Vilca participated in the International Mines Ministers Summit together with representatives of foreign governments and mining-related organizations in order to analyze the challenges the activity faces at a global level, such as social issues and the concern for the environment.
Likewise —during the meetings held— she informed about the changes her portfolio is boosting to optimize the granting of licenses and permits, which —at the same time— respect the environmental care standards.
Minister Vilca stressed that the current exploration projects portfolio includes 64 initiatives, which represent an investment close to US$500 million and that the objective is to expedite the execution of this package with the aim of encouraging new investments in this area.
Lastly, the government official emphasized that President Martin Vizcarra's administration promotes sustainable mining investments, which allow strengthening the national regions' growth and the well-being of the population within the framework of social peace.
