The Peruvian female volleyball team made its debut with a victory against Uruguay on the second day of the World Cup qualifying tournament held in Comodoro Rivadavia city, Argentina.
The Peruvian triumph was outstanding. After one hour and 16 minutes, Peru achieved the following scores: 25-16; 25-14 and 25-19.
Starting squad was composed of Clarivet Yllescas, Mirtha Uribe, Maguilaura Frias, Zoila La Rosa, Angela Leyva, Karla Ortiz and Maria de Fatima Acosta. They are coached by Mauro Marasciulo. Top scorers were Leyva (13 points), Frias (9 points), Ortiz and Uribe; each scored 8 points.
During the first set, Uruguay surprised the Peruvian team. Nonetheless, the nationals managed to recover and conquered the set. Afterwards, Peru led the game allowing the coach to rotate players. Carla Rueda, Gina Lopez and Alexandra Muñoz entered the court.
After the triumph, Peru will face Colombia next at the Women's World Cup Qualification on Friday at 4.00 P.M. (Peruvian time)
