Peruvian Attorney General Zoraida Avalos has reaffirmed her support for
and indicated that she will not allow the work done by the team to stop.
Avalos acknowledged that the rejection by a sector of the Board of Supreme Prosecutors towards the efforts undertaken by that group was evident.
"The Special Team members have my full support (…). They can attest that we are moving forward (…), and there is a sector that does not want them, logically," she expressed.
The head of the Public Ministry said it has not been easy to work in these conditions, but it was part of the challenge.
On the other hand, she stressed that the ties her office maintains with the Executive Branch are strictly work-related.
In Peru, the Public Ministry is independent from the Executive Branch.
