Integrated forces from the Armed Forces Special Command and the VRAEM Police Front seized 250 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in a camp located in Yaruri Population Center belonging to Llochegua District, Huanta Province.

This was reported on Tuesday by the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, which specified that the intervention had taken place a day earlier, with knowledge of the province magistrate in charge of the Special Prosecutor's Office for Illicit Drug Trafficking Crimes.

The release also indicated that —upon noticing the presence of law enforcement agents— the alleged drug traffickers abandoned the illegal merchandise.

Following the intervention, the camp was destroyed.

The seized drugs were taken to the headquarters of the VRAEM Special Command to be later made available to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office and continue with the legal proceedings.

Lastly, the Armed Forces stressed that they continue making efforts to neutralize illegal activities —simultaneously with actions— in areas under state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
