Peru appoints high representative for OECD accession process

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers approved the designation of career diplomat Ana Rosa Maria Valdivieso Santa Maria as High Representative of Peru for the process of accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The designation was made official by Supreme Resolution No. 071-2023-PCM published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Friday.

According to the document, and in compliance with Supreme Decree No. 041-2023-PCM, Peru's representative for the accession process will be functionally dependent on the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).

Besides, the appointee must fulfill the tasks designated in said decree, such as taking up representative duties within the framework of accession to the OECD and coordinating Peru's accession process with OECD representatives, Member States, as well as other international economic and financial organizations. 

Among other duties are following up on the legislative reforms necessary for the accession process, requesting the heads of various public entities the necessary information for the development of activities, and reporting quarterly to the Multisectoral Commission on the progress of Peru's accession process.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international body, whose objective is to promote policies that favor prosperity, equality, opportunities, and well-being for all people.

Thus, it works to establish international standards and propose solutions based on empirical data to various social, economic, and environmental challenges.
