During the session, both government officials highlighted the strong political ties between both countries, as well as the strategic nature of their bilateral relationship.
They highlighted cooperation between the two countries in areas such as development, the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking, the environment, trade, and German investment in Peru's strategic sectors.
The ministers also highlighted the upcoming visit to Peru by Germany's State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Energy, along with a business delegation, scheduled for September 29-30.
According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the visit will help showcase Peru's competitive advantages for business, foster ties between the private sectors, as well as discuss cooperation on sustainable mining, technology transfer, and good industrial practices.
Furthermore, the dignitaries agreed on the need to promptly conclude the ongoing negotiations for an accord on combating organized crime and drug trafficking.
Moreover, they talked about the possibility of launching police cooperation.
Lastly, given the broad range and diversity of issues covered by this strategic partnership, Minister Espa invited his German counterpart to visit Peru.
The visit, along with a business delegation, could take place during the first half of 2027.
