With the aim of boosting bilateral relations and exploring new investment opportunities, Peru's Ambassador to Finland, Renato Reyes, held a working meeting with Finland's Economic Affairs Minister Sakari Puisto.

During the event, broad opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as mining and the space industry were highlighted.

Regarding the mining sector, Ambassador Reyes underscored the importance of this industry for both economies.

The diplomat invited Finnish companies to expand their presence in energy, construction, and transport sectors, noting that Peru faces a critical infrastructure gap worth approximately US$100 billion.

Likewise, the head of mission extended a formal invitation for Finland to participate with a high-level delegation in Perumin 2027, following the success of its pavilion at the 2025 edition.

In turn, Minister Puisto said he is considering an official visit to Peru.

The dignitary added that his country is interested in diversifying ties toward the circular economy, chemicals, and the satellite industry.

In this regard, he highlighted that Finland currently ranks third worldwide in the number of satellites in orbit—surpassed only by the United States and China.

Along those lines, the interest of the National Commission for Aerospace Research and Development (Conida) in learning about Finnish technology and promoting projects in Moquegua region was discussed.

As a result, both authorities agreed to coordinate a technical virtual meeting between Conida and the relevant bodies of Finland’s Ministry of Economic Affairs to establish a cooperation roadmap.
