In a ceremony at the Royal Palace of Brussels, Ambassador Gonzalo Gutierrez Reinel presented Tuesday his credential letters to King Philippe of Belgium, which recognize his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru to the Kingdom of Belgium.

During the audience, Peruvian diplomat extended President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's greetings to the Belgium monarch, and affirmed the two countries enjoy a close, as well as smooth bilateral relationship based on solid foundations.

According to the former Foreign Affairs Minister, both Peru and Belgium share same ideals on value of democracy, respect for the rule of law, free economic initiative and the importance we attach to sustainable development.

The ceremony was a chance to address important bilateral issues, including the search for new ways of cooperation aimed at capacity building, scientific research, strengthening of productive activities and innovation.

Likewise, they discussed the further increase of economic-trade exchange and Peru's attempt to become a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
