Peru: Al-Attiyah wins third Dakar

13:19 | Lima, Jan. 17.

Qatar's Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota) on Thursday won his third Dakar, following triumphs in 2011 and 2015.

Al-Attiyah finished the last stage in 12th place, 9 minutes behind the day's winner, Carlos Sainz.

However, he was still 46 minutes ahead of Nani Roma (2nd spot) in the general ranking.

Sebastien Loeb —who was almost two hours behind Al-Attiyah— holds the third place.

The awarding ceremony will take place this afternoon in Magdalena district's Costa Verde bay.
