Peru: Agriculture Min tests positive for COVID-19

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri) on Thursday reported that the head of this portfolio Jorge Montenegro tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) and is complying with the social isolation guidelines.

To date, he is the only Ministerial Cabinet member to have been infected with the disease since the 
first case was reported in Peru last March. 

"Yesterday, May 6, 2020, the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Jorge Montenegro, received the positive result of the test that had been carried out for COVID-19. After learning about the diagnosis, he has been complying with social isolation and following the doctors' recommendations for his speedy recovery," reads a release issued by the Ministry.

Likewise, it points out that Minister Montenegro was leading the work at the markets for the correct compliance with health and safety measures.
