The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that 2,646 voting records will arrive in Peru today to be passed on to the
National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE).
In a statement, published on social media, the Ministry said that 398 voting records have been transmitted electronically, which were already counted by the electoral body.
"21 consuls will arrive in the country today bringing 2,646 voting records, which they will hand over directly to the ONPE," the ministry explained.
"Six consuls arrived on Monday, carrying 303 voting records, which were already counted by the ONPE," it added.
The statement also mentioned that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Consulates abroad, "has worked intensively to provide the voting records to the ONPE as soon as possible."
"It is important to mention that Consulates may transport and/or send the voting records —prepared and signed by the polling station members— to the ONPE, but they are not entitled to count votes," the ministry emphasized.
