09:00 | Puno (Puno region), Aug. 12.
A total of 20 tourist attractions in Puno region have received the Safe Travels Stamp —bestowed by the
World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC)— which recognizes them as safe destinations for tourists at times of COVID-19.
The certificate of recognition —handed over by the Regional Government of Puno— was received by the different local authorities.
The receipt of this stamp comes as the tourism sector —which was affected by the health emergency caused by the pandemic— embarks on an economic recovery journey.
The regional authority explained that the
Safe Travels Stamp's certificate of recognition aims to contribute to the responsible and safe reopening of tourism, in view of the existing commitment of local authorities to enforce the terms and conditions set forth by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) concerning the health guidelines to prevent COVID-19.
"The protocols aim to safeguard the health of travelers, as well as tourism service providers, and are the result of joint efforts between district and provincial municipalities,"
Puno Governor Agustin Luque said during the handover of certificates.
