A total of 18 presidential tickets, 476 lists of candidates running for Congress, and 16 lists for Andean Parliament are eligible to participate in Peru's forthcoming general elections scheduled for April 11, 2021, according to National Elections Board (JNE) Chairman Jorge Luis Salas.

This is the list of candidates for the upcoming elections, as the deadline for their exclusion because of omission of information from affidavits, resumes, or due to handouts given to voters, was on March 12.

The information was disclosed during a presentation before the Congress' Constitution and Regulation Commission, to which Salas was invited to report on progress in the ongoing electoral process.

The 18 presidential and vice-presidential tickets that have been given the green light to run in this process belong to the following parties: Accion Popular; Alianza para el Progreso; Avanza Pais; Democracia Directa; Frente Amplio por Justicia, Vida y Libertad; Fuerza Popular; Juntos por el Peru; Somos Peru; and Partido Morado.

The list also includes Partido Nacionalista Peruano; Peru Libre; Partido Popular Cristiano; Peru Patria Segura; Podemos Peru; Renacimiento Unido Nacional; Renovacion Popular; Union por el Peru; and Victoria Nacional.

The JNE head reported that the electoral timetable has been scrupulously observed, which includes the approval of the electoral roll, the deadline to register electoral alliances, as well as the installation and functioning of the two groups of Special Electoral Boards, among others.

In terms of judicial control, Salas reported that the plenary session of the JNE has reviewed 560 files since November 2020, within the framework of the current process.

Additionally, he explained that around 17,000 JNE supervisors —as well as some 17 groups of international observers— will be deployed at polling stations across the country on election day.
